Where to Get Your Animal Health Industry News

By EPiQ Animal Health | October 8th, 2019

Pets are family. That’s why we love to pamper them and spoil them rotten. We care for them like we do for our (human) children. In fact, one-third of pet parents even prefer their pet over their kids! This means we’re also willing to invest our time and money in their wellbeing. And, if you’re an animal health manufacturer, this is music to your ears.

But how do you find out about consumer preferences and gain the insights you need to launch new products that veterinarians and pet owners demand?

We recommend staying on top of animal health industry news, standards, and trends to help you make smarter business decisions and stay ahead of the competition. The publications listed below are a good start for any animal health manufacturer serious about their long-term success:

1. Animal Health Digest

If you’re pressed for time, check out Animal Health Digest. Daily blog posts and weekly bulletins give you the highlights from more than 150 animal health publications in a bite-size format. AHD’s unique INSIGHTS feature explains how their articles can be applied to real-life business situations. Still not sold? You don’t have to be — subscribing is free.

2. United Veterinary Services Association

The United Veterinary Services Association (UVSA) is an authority for information pertaining to the animal health supply chain. UVSA members get exclusive access to members-only articles and a legal database that monitors changes in local and federal regulations. The ITR Advisor, a monthly e-newsletter, recommends best business practices by using leading indicators to forecast the future animal health economy. Membership in UVSA is contingent upon application approval by the association’s board of directors. For more on how to apply, visit the UVSA’s membership page.

3. Today’s Veterinary Business

Today’s Veterinary Business was launched to provide content focused on the business side of animal health. Though not directly related to manufacturing, their valuable coverage of the veterinary industry is sure to provide useful insights that could help you to guide your decision-making. You can subscribe to their weekly e-newsletter here.

4. Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) publishes two journals. AVMA members get their choice of one journal included with their membership or both for an additional $72 per year. The Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA), a general scientific journal that provides the latest on veterinary medicine, publishes twice monthly.

5. American Journal of Veterinary Research

The AVMA’s second journal, the American Journal of Veterinary Research (AJVR), publishes every month. The AJVR focuses on peer-reviewed reports of applied research. AVMA members receive hard copies of both publications, as well as online access to content with the ability to search all articles back to January 1, 2000. For $320 annually, non-veterinarians can apply for affiliate membership with AVMA.
